Work where the outcome is someone's independence

NDCS is looking for people who want the work itself to matter — supporting youth and adults from first training through a job that lasts.

An NDCS job coach supporting a student at a work-based learning placement

What the job actually looks like

You meet a student who has never held a job, or an adult who has been told no more times than yes. You help them find what they are good at, prepare them for the room, and then stand beside them on the first day.

Then you keep showing up — checking in with them and with their supervisor — until the placement is theirs and it holds.

Employment Specialist / Job Coach

Employment Specialists and Job Coaches are the people our participants remember. You work one-on-one with youth and adults, prepare them for the workplace, support them on-site during placements, and partner with local employers so a placement succeeds for everyone.

What you would do

  • Support participants one-on-one to build workplace skills and confidence
  • Accompany students on the first day of a placement and check in regularly
  • Partner with host businesses and supervisors to resolve challenges early
  • Help participants develop and work toward individualized employment goals
  • Coordinate with VR counselors, schools, families, and employers
  • The outcome is a person's independence

Every placement is someone earning their own money, building their own references, and deciding their own next step.

  • Small team, real ownership

You will not be a case number moving through a queue. You carry your participants and see their outcomes through.

  • Established and VR-approved

More than fourteen years of employment-services experience, with active Vocational Rehabilitation and APD approvals behind your work.
